Coach as teacher. Coach as friend.
Coach is one of those really complex words that had to grow on me. I never considered myself a coach, a counselor, or even a mentor. But as the years have gone by, I’ve started to notice those are a few of the socially acceptable and well-known ways for me to refer to myself. That is, these words — coach, counselor, mentor — are legible to others. It helps them “understand” what I do.
Except it doesn’t. Because I do nothing in the realm of what a traditional coach, counselor, or mentor is supposed to do.
But I guess I serve a similar function: to accompany you, to help you get where you’re going, to immerse into whatever waters you’re swimming in with you so your path is less lonely and more easeful. In general, that’s what I tend to do.
To be honest, coach is a term I adapted because I needed to figure out a way to help “the market” understand me. For some reason, spiritual teacher meets psychic meets philosopher meets ancient-being-in-young-ish-body who will change your life dramatically and you won’t even be able to pinpoint how, wasn’t really doing the trick.
I started calling myself a coach because I needed to share about what I do in language that most people already pretty much understand.
And yet. There are a million ways I could talk about my work that defy logic and gravity. Billions even. I started calling my 12 Month Intuitive Business Coaching Experience an experience because working with me is exactly that. An experience. Probably unlike any experience you have ever had before.
I will see you. I will love you. I will want what’s best for you. And that will scare you.
I will stick with you. I will never leave you, even when you’re mad at me. I will honor your sadness, your frustration, your strength, and your anger. And that will scare you.
I will affirm the deep knowing inside you. I will trust you. I will see your beauty, wisdom, brilliance, power. And that will scare you.
I will transcend the bounds of what you thought a business coach could ever be and I will bring a depth and meaning to your existence that sets your soul on fire. And that will scare you.
I will teach you how to do things you thought were impossible and your whole life will get bigger and bolder and more vibrant because of it.
And of course, that will scare you.
I will understand your precious vision as intimately as you do. And that will scare you too.
I will, week after week, watch you come more alive. It will be my honor and my pleasure, and I’ll be sure to let you know that with my words and my vibes. Your growth will move me to tears. I will cheer for you, I will not let you gloss over a single small victory, and I will remember every detail from our sessions before. I will watch you do exactly what you are here to do and we will both be better because of it. We will both feel nourished. Whole-hearted. Fulfilled.
If we lived in a precolonial village, my life would already be sustained and neither of us would have to worry about survival in the ways we do now.
I wouldn’t have to charge for the work I do because money wouldn’t exist, only exchange would, and I’d take care of you and you’d take care of me, as we were born to do.
But we’re in a different world now. You know it. I know it.
We’re in the world of capitalism even as capitalism itself is flailing around, taking its very last breaths. In some ways, we are taking our very last breaths too.
Our very last breaths as oppressed people. Together, we are learning we don’t have to take much more.
We are returning to our sacredness, to our divinity.
Working with me is one accelerated path.
I’m not here to tell anyyyyoneeee what to do — though almost everyone expects me to.
The assumption that I have everything figured out about your life before you do is egoic, entitled, and quite frankly, insane.
You deserve more than a to do list, a packet full of tasks, and a prerecorded online course that’s gonna take up way too damn much of your time. You deserve to be paid attention to. You deserve careful consideration. You deserve a sort of deep and archaic listening. You deserve love and care.
Telling people what to do is not love and care.
Which is why I don’t do it.
Instead, I earn your trust, however long it takes, and I give advice and counsel when you turn to me for it. When I can feel you energetically opening, reaching for the help and support you need.
But I can’t support you unless you take the leap.
So — I’m encouraging you to make this energetic, financial, and practical investment that will change the course of your life forever.
An investment that guarantees you access to someone who will always be in your corner. An irreplaceable, inconceivable, unrelenting ally, partner, teacher, and friend.
We’re not yet evolved enough as a species for me to say something like this:
Pay me once to be a person who loves and supports you forever.
Pay me because you trust yourself and for no other reason at all.
Pay me instead of a big corporation so you know what it’s like to have peace in this life.
Pay me because when you do I’m bound to make sure your investment returns to you tenfold. And I never let up on this commitment. I see it through.
And the paying is just a formality - it is just a condition of this particular life.
I need it, which is why I ask for it.
But with or without it, my love and support for you exists.
But I’m saying it to you anyways.
Because I believe if you’re my person, you understand.
Here’s how to have me as your coach/healer/sage/cheerleader/business partner/biggest fan/witch person/rogue therapist/super expert consultant for eternity.
And here’s how to have me as your coach/healer/sage/cheerleader/business partner/biggest fan/witch person/rogue therapist/super expert consultant for 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months (though eternity is a much better deal).
Rooting for you always. In every single realm.
With love and care,
-M.
